manor_hill_firewise

With 50 nationally recognized neighborhoods, Marin is the fastest growing county in the US for the Firewise USA program in 2019 and second in the nation for the number of recognized sites!  We've already added 20 new sites this year, and are working with 27 more neighborhoods to help them achieve this important recognition.

At the October 11 FIRESafe MARIN meeting, we'll recognize the 9 newest sites with a presentation of a plaque.  Please accept our invitation to congratulate these new sites:

The Firewise USA Program encourages local solutions for safety by involving homeowners in taking individual responsibility for preparing their homes from the risk of wildfire. The program provides resources to help homeowners learn how to adapt to living with wildfire while encouraging and empowering neighbors to work together to take action now to reduce their wildfire risk and prevent losses.  Join the growing network of more than 1,600 recognized Firewise communities taking action and ownership in preparing and protecting their homes against the threat of wildfire.

Using a six-step process, communities develop an action plan that guides their residential risk reduction activities, while engaging and encouraging their neighbors to become active participants in building a safer place to live.  Neighborhoods throughout Marin and the United States are embracing the benefits of becoming a recognized Firewise Community – and you can too!

The process is simple, and FIRESafe MARIN and the Firewise USA program will provide necessary educational materials, training, expertise and assistance, while allowing your neighborhood to take action and take responsibility!  Learn more at www.firesafemarin.org/firewise.
