Get Ready 5th Grade: Wildfire Safety & Preparedness

The following videos are part of the Get Ready 5th Grade emergency preparation program produced by FIRESafe Marin and funded by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority. This video explains the basics of wildfire science, behavior and importance to our ecology. It is important to understand wildfires to know how to reduce our risks.

Get Ready
Being ready for a wildfire means being alert and prepared. This video explains what to do: 1) sign up for the emergency alert system; 2) pack a go bag; 3) go through an evacuation checklist; and 4) make your home safer from wildfires.

Get Set
Red
Flag Warning Days are when conditions are right for wildfires and you have to get set to evacuate. This video explains the importance of getting set on Red Flag Days and how to dress for evacuation and ready your pets to go,

Go!
When Alert Marin or one of the other warning systems gives us an evacuation order, it’s time to go! Put on your safe clothes, grab your go bags and your pets and get in the car and leave immediately. This video explains a safe evacuation plan.
