DESCRIPTION:Join us for a FREE 2-hour seminar on wildfire preparedness for Tam Valley residents. \nAs Marin residents\, we all share responsibility to be prepared for wildfires.  Wildfires are a natural part of our environment\, and it’s imperative that we build our homes\, maintain our landscapes\, and prepare our families for the next major fire.  \nLearn about Tam Valley’s hazard and risk\, and what you can do about it from the wildfire experts at Southern Marin Fire District and Fire Safe Marin. \n\nAre you and your family prepared to safely evacuate when a wildfire strikes?\nIs your home vulnerable to igniting from wildfire embers?\nDoes your home have adequate Defensible Space?\nAre you interested in working with neighbors and land managers to reduce fire risk in your community?\nUpdates on Southern Marin Fire District’s WUI ordinances.\nLocal evacuation specifics.\nIntroduction to planning and hazard assessment which is underway\, and opportunity for public input. \n\nThis workshop is intended primarily for residents\, homeowners\, and regular visitors to Tam Valley\, CA.  Registration online at www.firesafemarin.org/events is encouraged\, but not required.   \nMonday\, April 15 2019 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM\, Southern Marin Fire District will host this seminar\, consisting of a 60-minute presentation on wildfire preparedness\, with a short . introduction and update and opportunity for public input on future planning efforts\, and 30 minutes of questions and answers.  \nAdditional “Living WIth Fire” seminars for residents of other locales will be held across Marin in 2019 (see www.firesafemarin.org/events for details).  Each “Living With Fire” session will focus on issues facing the community hosting the event. \nThis seminar will include information specific to residents of Tam Valley or Southern Marin Fire District (seminars will be offered in Sausalito\, Strawberry/Alto\, Tiburon in May – check back soon).

DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join us for Marin’s first FREE “Wildfire Safety and Vegetation Management Workshop For Contractors” to help Marin’s many Green Industry professionals\, including – TREE SERVICES\, ARBORISTS\, AND LANDSCAPERS – better understand Marin’s wildfire risk\, defensible space laws\, and best practices for creating a wildfire resistant landscape. \nAs a green industry professional\, you work on the front-line in the effort to reduce the risk of wildfire in Marin! \n\nIs your business prepared to respond to the increased demand for service following several years of devastating wildfires in California?\nAre you interested in access to grants and large state and federally funded vegetation removal projects in Marin?\nAre you up to date on DEFENSIBLE SPACE requirements?\nAre you interested in better serving Marin customers?\n\nThis workshop is intended primarily for decision-makers\, business owners\, supervisors\, and leaders in green industry companies that do business in Marin County\, CA. \nTuesday\, March 19\, 2019 from 9:30 am-12pm\, Fire Safe Marin will host a Contractor’s workshop to help green industry professionals\, tree services\, arborists\, and landscapers operating in Marin understand wildfire preparedness and vegetation management concepts intended to reduce the risk of wildfires. Learn about the defensible space requirements outlined in the California Fire Code (CFC) and Public Resources Code (PRC)\, and hear directly from fire professionals about the challenges of reducing hazardous vegetation in an urban environment. \nWe’ll have representatives from Marin fire departments\, land management agencies like MMWD\, County Parks and Open Space\, PG&E\, and others to help you understand Marin’s wildfire risk and develop tools to allow your company to better serve Marin residents and respond to the increased demand for service following California’s devastating wildfires. \nContractors and business representatives who attend will have an opportunity for listing in a publication of green industry businesses with distribution to more than 55\,000 Marin residents in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI).  Donations to Fire Safe Marin are encouraged\, but not required. \nThis seminar is intended for professionals and business owners in green industries who provide vegetation management services in Marin County\, CA. This is not a class for individual homeowners looking for wildfire safety tips. Look for homeowner preparedness classes beginning spring 2019 at www.firesafemarin.org! \nParking is limited – please carpool!
