As we continue to face summers in California with conditions that make wildfire imminent, we need to learn how to adapt and respond. The areas around our homes can help slow the spread of fire if designed and maintained properly. What does this look like? This year Ember Stomp, Marin’s 2nd annual wildfire prevention festival, will feature three 30×40 feet plots demonstrating how a fire-smart yard can be beautiful and functional. Each plot will have a different look and feel, ranging from spacious modern to cozy bungalow and showcasing ideal plant spacing, fencing design options, and design elements.
This landscaping expo wouldn’t be possible without the support of Marin’s businesses. Yardzen, an online landscape design company, has created the renderings of these yards, which will be brought to life using resources and supplies from A & S Landscaping and Terra Outdoor Living furniture. These companies recognize the importance of adapting to wildfire by transforming the outdoor spaces around our homes.
Come to Ember Stomp on May 20th at the Marin Civic Center Fairgrounds from 11am-5pm and experience the possibilities of fire-smart yards for yourself! This is a FREE event and all are welcome to attend.
