🏠🔥 Renters: Wildfire Safety Starts With You

Renters are responsible for wildfire risks associated with their personal belongings and play a key role in reducing wildfire risk for their home. The responsibilities include but aren’t limited to the following:

1️⃣ Manage the items outside, especially within the first 5 feet, that could ignite:

• Combustible doormats, wreaths, and décor

• Patio furniture

• Clutter or dead vegetation near walls or windows

2️⃣ Maintain outdoor areas per your lease:

• Clear leaves

• Mow grass

• Clean gutters

3️⃣ Prepare to evacuate early:

• Have a Go Kit prepared for your household members and pets

• Know your evacuation route and practice an evacuation drill

• Plan where you’ll go after evacuation (friends, family, hotel, evacuation center, etc)

• Arrange for pet needs & transport

• Set an out-of-area contact
