Home Evaluation Tip

Firewood must be relocated to a location more than 30′ from structures, or stored in an enclosed, ember-resistant container or space. If relocated more than 30′ from structures, the firewood must be protected by removing grasses, weeds, or other combustibles and covered in an ember-resistant material.

Why is a pile of firewood a threat?

Dry wood stacks within 30 feet of a structure pose a significant fire risk. Stacks of wood can easily be ignited by flying embers and spread fire to any structure.

Don’t let your firewood stack be the kindling that ignites your home!

What do I do about it?

Relocate firewood more than 30 feet from structures, or store in a fully enclosed, ember-resistant shed/container.
